Robertson County Board of Schooling candidates face off in Area 6

Early balloting for the Thursday, Aug. 4, county fashionable election starts on Friday, July 15, with Robertson County Board of Training seats in Zones 3, four, five, and six appearing on the poll. Three of the four cores are contested. Incumbent Jeff White, who represents the county’s Greenbrier and Ridge everyday area, is uncontested.
In Area 6, incumbent Connie Hogan faces challenger Carolyn Woodard. Both girls have comparable backgrounds, retiring from the Robertson County Faculty district after years of coaching in the first-grade study room.

Hogan, a lifelong resident of Robertson County and a graduate of East Robertson High College, pursued her diploma in Training after Excessive Faculty and retired from the College district 9 years ago after teaching first grade for 30 years. She is married to day-to-day Robertson County Commissioner Bob Hogan.
“When I retired, I advised my husband I would like daily run for the College board at some point, so that’s what I did in 2012,” Hogan stated. “Schooling has continually been a vital part of my lifestyle,” Hogan noted. Along with her Education history, she can relate day-to-day what takes place in the lecture room.
“We’ve had a few different issues we’ve needed to address in my first four years at the board,” Hogan said. “Now I’m trying everyday recognition on assisting every day make a difference for our kids.”
Hogan is glad about the recent production of Crestview Basic School and the renovations at Watauga Essential Faculty. Now, she said she would like day-to-day focus on developing centers even greater while needed.
“I’m enthusiastic about the changes we’ve made at Westside Simple Faculty and Cheatham Park Essential School with the aid of assembly the literacy needs of college students there,” Hogan said. “And also with the location of the magnet Faculty at Springfield Middle Faculty. I would love to see that whole School become a magnet College one day.”
Hogan said she envisions a new Center College being built inside the county in the future, but the placement of that College will rely on growth adjustments in the end. Attracting students from home, Faculty, school rooms, and personal colleges is something Hogan said is needed in Robertson County.
“In several instances, we do the identical matters, seeking equal consequences,” Hogan stated. “We need everyday get out of our field day-to-day and daily progress…I want my mother and father to study Robertson County faculties every day and say, “Wow, I want my baby to go there.”
Carolyn Woodard
Woodard was born and raised in Robertson County and attended Bransford Elementary College, Springfield Middle College, and Springfield High College before receiving Training and counseling. Woodard retired following a 40-year profession in Education in the Robertson County College district.
“I’ve persevered doing element-time counseling at Bransford and Crestview Fundamental faculties,” Woodard stated. “I’m occurring five years now because of the directory-to-day of the Bransford Network Center.” If elected every day to the Board of Training in Robertson County, Woodard stated she would carry Training revel in the running with Faculty children daily in her position. “I’m inquisitive about supporting the day move better for children who’re examined all the time,” Woodard said. “We test, test, look at, check those youngsters. They’re worn-out.” Woodard stated she wants to see more teachers teaching everyday college students in the Fundamental grades.
“They need greater Training from appearing arts,” Woodard stated. “from day to day, youngsters in kindergarten andy fifth grade aren’t exposed to every day. The everyday wait until Middle College or Excessive School to join the band.”
Woodard, whose husband Raymond works as the assistant directly-to-day of transportation within the district, stated personnel underneath him and all different labeled workers in the community need better wages.
